The Canon 5D Mark III

The Canon 5D Mark III will be the sequel to Canon’s highly successful Mark II. The 5D Mark III is a highly anticipated camera that is sure to leave Canon fans awe struck at it’s capabilities. The Canon 5D mark III made it’s debut to the world in PC World’s most awaited cameras list and has been on the mind of photo fans ever since. While it has received a lot of hype from forums and blogs around the web there hasn’t been much information released on the Canon 5D Mark III. We’re going to cover when the Canon 5D Mark III should drop, what we believe this camera will feature and why it’s a perfect upgrade to the Mark II.

Canon much like every other camera company Canon seems to have fallen victim to the Japan earthquake tragedy in March. Manufacturing cameras such as the Canon 5D Mark III is on the bottom of the list for many factories and manufacturing companies based out of Japan. News of an official announcement from Canon changes regularly which probably means they are waiting for the dust to settle and hammer out the exact dates and details for the Canon 5D Mark III.

Canon 5D Mark III Won’t Be Available on November 3rd

Recent rumors speculated on a possible announcement and release of the Canon 5D Mark III for November 3rd but that won’t be the case. Instead we’ll be seeing two new video cameras coming from Canon, the EL Mount and the PL Mount. Many experts are speculating we may not see the Canon 5D Mark III at all in 2011 however it is possible for late 4th quarter.

Canon 5D Mark iii Possible Specs?

There has been no confirmations as of yet for Specs or features for the Canon 5D Mark III but there has been speculation as to what we may see from the camera. The Canon 5D Mark III is rumored to come in a smaller more compact size and feature closer weather pro grade sealing capabilities. Rumors are also stating the Canon 5D Mark III will have improved auto focus, 24 megapixels, contain 6FPS shooting and contain ISO performance 2 stops ahead of its predecessor the Mark 2. For now this is strictly Canon 5D Mark III speculation as no official word was released.

Many rumors are now pointing towards 2012 as the year of the Canon 5D Mark III. Once again there is no compelling evidence to say this is the definite launch year however it is the 25th anniversary of EOS. Canon could plan on celebrating it with the launch of the Canon 5D Mark III. Two of the biggest photography and video recording events are also taking place in 2012, the euro cup and the Olympics. If Canon were to release the Canon 5D mark III in time for both of these they could target the camera as a must have for both.

With the recent announcement of the Canon EOS 1DX it seems as though Canon is now teasing camera fans about the Canon 5D Mark III. It looks as though Canon fans were looking for a new DSLR that is going to feature photography over a video camera and with the huge emphasis of recording videos from the Canon EOS 1DX it looks like the Canon 5D Mark III is the next great hope for true photography fans. Canon fans will have to wait until 2012 now to see exactly what the camera will offer but many are hoping its a change from Canon’s recent announcement.

The latest rumors from Canon are that we will see a megapixel full frame camera by Spring to Summer of next year. Could this be the Canon 5D Mark III? It will have to be something big as the announcement ties in perfectly with the Summer games in London next year. The Canon 5D Mark III is very likely but we won’t hear an announcement until at least early 2012. Canon is going to make a big announcement, the camera model however is still up in the air.

Canon recently gave another Canon 5D Mark III tease after it made an announcement of a new DSLR camera that has still gone unnamed. However according to industry professionals the camera will not be part of the Canon EOS series and once again we’re left wondering when we’ll see it.

For all your Canon 5D Mark III news keep Lens Rumors your home as we bring you the latest information and rumors.

Canon G13

With the next power shot due out soon it seems the successor to the G12 will be appropriately titled the Canon G13. This camera, much like other future Canon cameras that have yet to be announced is highly anticipated leaving us to question when we will hear something about it. The Canon G13 will no doubt be announced next year before the 2012 Summer games in London (along with the rest of the 2012 Canon lineup) but many are asking could we possibly see it in early spring? The Canon G13 is deemed a very popular camera for Canon as the G series acts as a connecting model between DSLR’s and regular point and shoot cameras.

Canon G13 Features

So what could we see from the next gen. camera in the G series? As of now early reports are saying an increase in lens speed and a much larger image sensor. We can expect a 12 megapixel G13 as far as it’s sensor as well as 1080p recording features. Those features are strictly speculation at this point however they do some very reasonable upgrades to the Canon G12. Much like all the other Canon cameras the G13 was severely effected by the events in Japan earlier this year, pushing back its expected release date by months. The camera is a cornerstone for everyday users that aren’t professionals so as previously mentioned the Canon G13 will almost definitely be here in time for the 2012 Olympic games but we’ll waiting on an announcement that could still be a couple months away.

Nikon D4

Will we ever see Nikon’s highly anticipated Nikon D4 DSLR? At this point it doesn’t look likely for 2011. If you look at past Nikon Cameras there is a trending pattern of a new one released every 4 years. The D1 in ’99, the D2 in ’03, D3 in ’07 and finally the expected release date or announcement for the Nikon D4 is yes, summer or fall of 2011. Unfortunately, as all fans in the camera world know, things rarely work like that.

Earlier in the summer rumors were surfacing of a possible announcement for the Nikon D4 to be released in August however this news quickly fell short when we later learned Nikon had no intentions of making any official event or announcements.

More Nikon D4 Speculation

The Nikon D4 is rumored to be using a Sony sensor which will probably be 36 megapixels. There is also speculation that the camera will not even be called the Nikon D4 as the number 4 is considered unlucky in Japan, and often associated with death. The pricing for the Nikon D4 will be entirely dependent on whether we see a minor upgrade (in which case it could be called the D3ii) or a brand new camera. If we do see a new camera expect it the price to be pretty hefty as that was the case with the D3.

As of now it seems the earliest the Nikon D4 could be released is early 2012 but that’s still a long shot. It seems we will most definitely see the Nikon D4 sometime in the 1st quarter of 2012. The EOS 1DX by Canon was announced for March 2012 and it seems Nikon will look to provide some competition in the form of the D4. Next year is also an Olympic year which means Nikon will not enter the Summer games without a new camera in it’s arsenal

For all the Nikon D4 updates stay tuned to Lens Rumors as we bring you the latest news and information on everything D4.

If you’re an avid fan of Nikon cameras or just looking for an upgrade to your D300 you’ve probably wondered about the Nikon D500 and/or the Nikon D400. Many people have been researching the camera and it’s possible release date but there is such little information both online and off that no one really knows what’s happening with the Nikon D500.

From the little information we’ve uncovered we’ve learned the Nikon D500 / Nikon D400 is going to be built for professionals and enthusiasts alike. The camera will come equipped with 15.5 megapixel resolution allowing for pristine clarity and detail. Rumors are also stating the camera will come with a built-in flash and a 1.5x cropping system. Weather sealing is also another option we may see in the Nikon D500 / Nikon D400 but at this point all these features are simply speculation.

Below is a speculative video of the Nikon D500/Nikon 400 and what features we could see.

*Note the title is subjective, the camera features being discussed are those of a sequel to the D300

Leica is expected to announce in the next few weeks the launch of the next V Lux camera (V Lux 3?). The FZ-150 predecessor (FZ-100) was used as the OEM to the V Lux 2, more evidence that the next V Lux is coming.

The shipments for Leica’s V Lux Successor are expected to be sent at the end of November and early December at the latest allowing Leica a small window to take advantage of the holiday season.

Nikon D800

The Nikon D800, possibly the most anticipated camera of the year was rumored to be released in February or March of 2011 and has been pushed back ever since. Nikon’s month to release any big news or announcements concerning future cameras such as the Nikon D800 has always been February but no official statements were given at all this year. August 2011 was the second rumored date that Nikon was targeting. This would launch perfectly with the release of the CliQ which drops the first week of September but it seems we won’t be seeing the Nikon D800 until at least Fall of 2011.

The latest reports for the Nikon D800 are suggesting that due to the earthquake in Japan in March production has fallen behind (understandably so) and the scheduled launch date has been pushed back once again to Fall 2011. Amazon is also listing a Nikon D800 guide book on their site which means Nikon is most definitely planning to release the camera which is long overdue at this point. Nikon is also looking for a main feature camera to compete with the Canon 5D Mark III. Many felt the D700x would be the camera Nikon releases but it seems if the Nikon D800 does release this fall it could live up to the hype after all.

We have one more month to go until Consumer Electronic Show in which we could hear a big announcement from Nikon. This show is typically where camera companies such as Nikon and Canon make their announcements for upcoming products and many feel as though we’ll see the Nikon D800.

The Following are highlights of the Nikon D800 Specs:

36 MP sensor

Viewfinder Full coverage
